Fire Extinguishers must be on each boat. Law differs around the world but the boat should have one fitted because fires can be started from the inboard engines, outboard engines, fuel lines or cooking system and also from heating & cooling systems.
There are various types & styles of fire extinguisher are now available. For a boat, a good quality and size of dry chemical extinguishers can act as a good all rounder.
Fire extinguishers are needed(Fire Extinguishers As Part of Home Safety)to be mounted firmly & in the position which is easy to reach and can be use further easily. On the larger boats the separate extinguisher in the kitchen or on the deck & even in the engine room is preferred to keep. Make sure that all the passengers on the board should know where to get the fire extinguisher & even know how to use them safely.
Fire extinguishers are also having their usage by date on them. Most of the extinguishers appear with the built in the gauge that can let you to know their condition. Always be sure to confirm that this gauge regularly & either services or purchases a brand new extinguisher as per the requirement.
